THE CHALLENGE.....

Ok so a week ago myself along with some others were challenged by my sister and I am taking it on! The challenge was of something she read a pastor did for his church about complaining. Basically he made these bracelets for his congregation that said "complain free world". The challenge is to not complain for 21 days and each time you catch yourself complaining then you must move your bracelet to the other wrist. They say it takes 21 days to form a new habit. So this is my week to start the challenge! Here is one definition I found on the word

Complain:" express complaints, discontent, displeasure, or unhappiness"

Here are my thoughts thus far: If we complain then we are expressing to God that we are discontent or unhappy with what we have at this moment. This I am sure isn't pleasing to Him...and personally I want to please Him!

I just read in Galatians 6:7-10 and it says the following

"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction: the one who sows to please the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to ALL people....."

This was enlightening in many ways. If we come from a place of complaints then we are headed for destruction within ourselves. Continuing to complain or whine doesn't get anyone anywhere in fact the only thing it does is bring forth ungratefulness and a rotten attitude. We are creating a mood in which it not only affects us, but can affect the ones around us. If we want to glorify His name and bring forth the good news then we must do so by example of our own lives. This bad habit is contradictory! Oh I am not saying that we are perfect by all means and that we will never fall short of the glory of God, but when we do we must get up and try it all over again! NEVER GIVE UP ON THE CHALLENGE:)

How can I improve my attitude and bring forth a new habit? My commitment is to catch myself in the midst of it and when I do instead of complaining I will stop to praise Him for all that He is and all that He has done and will do in my life!

So I am fired up about this challenge and I hope that you will take this on as well....let me know how things are going with your experience!
